The story of "Stitches From The Heart"
Stitches From The Heart was started in 1996 after Kathy Silverton's daughter Shane read an article in her local paper about premature babies often going home from the hospital with very little to wear, if anything at all. When Shane told her mom about this, Kathy spent her free time knitting booties, blankets, and hats for the babies.

Kathy's area newspaper ran a featured article, "What Do You Do for Charity?", and featured the way she took to her knitting and crochet for the infants. Days after the printing, the newspaper contacted Kathy with over 100 names of volunteers that wanted to assist in creating home-made creations as well. Soon after, Stitches From The Heart was born.

Stitches From The Heart has since celebrated its Fifteenth Anniversary. We are proud to say that we are over 14,000 volunteers strong and growing daily. As a group Stitches From The Heart has donated over 900,000 to over 1,200 charities and hospitals around the nation.

We are very proud of our numbers and we have the goal of donating over 1 MILLION items looming on us... 2012 will be the year that it happens - don't you want to be a part of the awesome experience?
