Blankets
Center Out Square Baby Blanket in Double Crochet
Materials: Use with Partial skeins of yarn which go together in color and type. This is for amounts of yarn which, by themselves, won't make anything, but when put together will make a baby sized blanket.
Hook Size: Use one which goes nicely with your yarn.
Rnd 1: Ch 5, work 4 dc in 5th ch from hk, join w/ sl st in top of 1st DC (not in the chain), ch 3, (Do Not Turn) (4 st)
Rnd 2: In same st as ch 3 work, 2 dc, then work 2 dc in each dc rnd, join w/ sl st in top of 1st DC (not in the chain, thru-out) (8 sts)
Rnd 3: In same st as ch 3 work 1 dc, 3 dc in next st (for corner), 1 dc in next st, rpt from * to make 4 corners, join. (This makes 1 dc between each corner group of 3 dc)
Rnd 4 and all following rows: Work 5 dc in center dc of each corner around. This increases each round by 4 sts to a side. When you get to the end of a skein make sure it is a complete round. If the round stops short, rip out that bit of rnd that does not reach, Attach new color to beginning of rnd and
continue with as many full rnds as this new yarn color will make. Continue until blanket is desired size. This makes rnds like a picture frame around the center. You may make any fancy afghan square for the center then frame it this way.
