This not only benefits the needy newborns, but also brings an added purpose to the lives of many elderly volunteers who take great pleasure helping these infants. Stitches From the Heart has just celebrated its Fourth Anniversary! Our volunteers hand knit and crochet hats, booties, blankets, and sweaters for newborn and premature babies as well as underprivileged toddlers. Indeed our organization has touched many lives, and will continue to do so far into the future. Our goal is to be able to to provide handmade items for as many children from impoverished families as possible. Stitches From the Heart is a 501(c)(3)organization, in other words we are a non-profit group, made up entirely of volunteers and funded by donations. It may sound hard, and while it is certainly not easy, the feeling that comes with helping another human being, so desperately in need of help, is more reward than can be measured. When we see the photos, read the letters, hear the stories of how these tiny booties, hats, sweaters and blankets bring such a sense of security and peace, we are driven more and more to give more and more.
