Hats

Infant Knit Hat

FULL TERM: Use sport weight yarn, (#4-#6 needles).
PREEMIE: Use fingering weight yarn, (#2-#4 needles).
Cast on 72 sts. Work in ribbing (K1, P1) or (K2, P2) for 2"
Work 2 1/2" of stockinette st (or st or your choice).
Row 1: **K4, K2tog** across row.
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8: Purl
Row 3: **K3, K2tog** across row.
Row 5: **K2, K2tog** across row.
Row 7: **K2tog** across row.
Break yarn, pull through stitches, knot securely and weave seam with same yarn.
 

Eyelet Hat

Using worsted weight yarn, (#6 needles), cast on 50 sts, work in ribbing for 2" **Work in stockinette stitch for 1", end with purl row.
(K1, K2tog, YO, K2tog) across row.
Purl across row**
Repeat**to**
Work in stockinette st until hat measures 5", end with purl row.
***K2tog across row***
Purl across row.
Repeat ***to***
Break yarn, pull through stitches, knot securely and weave seam with same yarn.

Booties

Lauren's Easy Booties

Using fingering yarn (#3-4 needles) or sports yarn (#4-5 needles) cast on 28 sts.
Work in garter st for 30 rows.
Rows 1-2: Bind off 5 sts at beginning of each row.
Rows 3-7: Knit.
Row 8: Decrease 1 st in first and last st.
Row 9: Knit.
Rows 10-12: **K2tog** across row.
Break yarn draw through remaining st, pull up, fasten securely (toe end). Fold bootie in half, weave front and back seams. Fold down top to form cuff. Embellish with bows, if desired (for full term babies only).
 

Tube Booties

Using fingering yarn (#4-5 needles) or sports yarn (#5-7 needles), cast on 27 sts.
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: Inc in 1st st, K11, inc 1 st, K1, inc 1 st, K11, inc in last st.
Row 3: Knit.
Row 4: Inc in 1st st, K11, inc 1 st, K5, inc 1 st, K11, inc in last st.
Rows 5-12: Work 3 rows in garter st, 5 rows in stockinette st or any other simple st.
Row 13: K20, K2tog (through back of st).
Rows 14-15: **Slip 1, P5, P2tog, Turn, slip 1, K5, K2tog**.
Repeat **to** until 23 sts remain.
Next 2 rows: Slip 1, K5, K2tog, Knit to end, turn, P13, P2tog, purl to end.
Work 6 rows in stockinette st, then work 6 rows in garter st.
Cast off loosely. Leave yarn long enough to weave seam.

Easy Breezy Blanket

Optional: Change colors with needle changes.
Using worsted weight yarn, cast on 135 sts with #13 needle.
**With # 13 needle, knit in garter stitch for 7 rows. With #3 or #4 needle, knit in garter st for 7 rows**
Repeat **to** until almost 40 inches long.
Last 7 rows: With #13 needle, knit.
Cast off loosely

Using worsted weight yarn (#15 needles), cast on 93 sts.
Rows 1-6: Knit.

Beribboned Baby Blanket

Using worsted weight yarn, ( # 7 - # 8 needles), cast on 121 sts.
Rows 1 - 6: Knit.
For the following rows, always start and end each row with 6 knit sts.

Rows 9, 11, 13, 15: Purl
Rows 16 - 19: Knit
Row 20: K1, *YO, K2tog* across row.
Rows 21 - 24: Knit 4 rows.]

Work rows[7 - 15].
Last 6 rows: Knit.
Cast off loosely. Weave satin or grosgrain ribbons through eyelets and tack at ends.
 

Quick and Easy Afghan

Using worsted weight yarn (#14 needles), cast on 97 sts.
Rows 1-9: Knit.
Row 10: K4, purl across to last 4 sts, K4.
**Row 11: K8, P1, (K7, P1) across to last 8 sts, K8.
Row 12: K4, P3, K3, (P5, K3) across to last 7 sts, P3, K4.
Row 13: K6, P5, (K3, P5) across to last 6 sts, K6.
Row 14: K4, P1, (K7, P1) across to last 4 sts, K4.
Row 15: K5, P7, (K1, P7) across to last 5 sts, K5.
Row 16: K4, P1, (K3, P1) across to last 4 sts, K4.

Sweaters

Asymmetrical Sweater

Materials: Size #6 or 7 needles. Sport. DK. 3 Ply Yarn. (150+ yards for sweater)
Abbreviations: RS-Right Side, WS-Wrong Side: yo-Yarn Over.
Begin a lower back: Cast on 31 (35) sts. Work in Garter St for 3 1/2 (4) inches. 31 (35)
Sleeves: Beginning with RS, cast on 18 (20) stitches at the beginning of the nex 2 rows. 67 (75)
Work even for 2 1/2 (3) inches.
Shape neck: On RS knit 28 (31, place sts on holder, cast off the next 11 (13) sts and knit across remaining 28 (31) sts. 28 (31)
L Front: Knit 3 (5) rows and cast on 5 sts the inside edge of the last row. 33 (36). Work even until sleeve measures 5 (6) inches. At sleeve edge, cast off 18 (20) sts 15 (16). Work even for 3 1/2 (4) inches. Bind off.
R Front: Join new yarn at neck. Knit 4(6) rows and cast on 15 sts on inside edge of the last row. 43(46). Work even for 1/2 (3/4) inch. Starting at sleeve edge, knit until 3 sts remain and then work buttonhole. Work even until sleeve measures 5 (6) inches. At sleeve edge, cast off 18 (20) sts. Knit across row until 3 sts remain and then work second buttonhole. 25(26). Work even for 3 1/2 (4) inches. Bind off.
Finishing: Join side and sleeve seams. Sew on button of your choice.
Buttonhole: YO, P2tog, knit remaining st.
 

Garter Stitch Baby Sweater

Using circular needles and main color, cast on 50 sts.
Knit 4 rows.
Row 5: K10, yo, k1, yo, k3, yo, k1, yo, k20, yo, k1, yo, k3, yo, k1, yo, k10.
Row 6: *K to st between yo's, pl, rep from * to end of row.
Row 7: K11, yo, k1, yo, k5, yo, k1, yo, k22, yo, k1, yo, k5, yo, k1, yo, k11.
Even rows: Same as Row 6.
Odd rows: Continue to work yo's each side of defining k stitch until there are 24 sts in each from section.

Work contrast color stripes on rows 9 & 10; 15 & 16; 21 & 22; 27 & 28.

Divide as follows: K 24 sts for front, place 33 sts for sleeve (31 sts plus the center st between yo's) on a length of yarn, CO 3 sts, knit 48 sts for back, CO 3 sts, place 33 sleeve sts on another length of yarn, k24 sts. You will have a total of 102 sts on needle.

Knit in garter stitch for 34 rows. Bind off.

Sleeves: Using double point needles, slip 33 sleeve sts onto 3 needles (9, 12 & 12). Attach yarn using 4th needle and pick up and knit 3 sts from under arm edge of sweater body. K next 9 sts off needle (you now have 12 sts on each of the 3 needles). Work in garter st, which when knitting in the round is knit one round, purl one round, for 20 rounds.
Decrease round: K2tog, k2 all around. Work 3 more rounds. Bind off.
Finishing: Weave in ends. Work one row single crochet around front and neck edge, making 3 small button loops on one edge. Sew on buttons opposite the loops.
